India National Cricket Team: History and Achievements

Now the team of this country is included in the ICC and participates in international tournaments at the highest level. The team’s nickname is “Men in Blue”, the players received it for the color of their uniforms.

The Calcutta Cricket Club was founded in 1792 – it happened almost a hundred years after the creation of the world’s first cricket club – Marylebone Cricket Club. So India can rightfully be considered the cradle of this game.

The Indians defeated the British for the first time on the cricket field in 1890, and a regular championship was established between the Parsis and the Europeans, which was named Presidency. In 1907, Hindus joined him, and a few years later, Muslims. Thanks to this tournament and other unofficial competitions, cricket became more and more popular in India.
