Andre Russell is not included in the West Indies squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup
Very soon, the T20 World Cup will start in Australia. The West Indies line-up for the upcoming World Championship has recently become known. And there are a few surprises here: Andre Russell is not included in the West Indies squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Moreover, Sunil Narine was also not included in the West Indies squad for the Australian World Cup. West Indies chief selector Desmond Haynes explained the decision to keep Andre Russell and Sunil Narine, the two team leaders, out of the squad.
The selector noted that the West Indies need to “move on” and learn to play without long-term leading players.
“I met with Russell, and we discussed the upcoming World Cup. We’re still not sure if he’s performing as well as we’d like. I think the West Indies just need to move on and look for new leaders. We have a good squad, and we were absolutely objective when selecting players for the T20 World Cup,” said Desmond Haynes.
