Rough

Rough is a term used in cricket to describe the “worn out” section of the field due to bowler tracks.

Each bowler needs a certain area to run, which over time “clears” the grass, becoming rough (“rough”). Spin bowlers use this area when needed to take advantage of the extra spin.
