Andre Russell wants to play at the upcoming T20 World Cup
Versatile West Indies global Andre Russell wants to play at the upcoming T20 World Cup, which starts in 2 months in Australia. He has not worn the jersey of his country’s national team for a long time. However, Russell wants to help his team succeed at the 2022 World Championship.
“I understand perfectly well that I am already 34 years old, but I can safely say that I am capable of helping the squad. I am sure I will do everything possible to help the West Indies compete for T20 World Cup trophy,” Andre Russell said.
Recall that, Andre has already twice become the globe champion in the T20 format in his professional career — in 2012 and 2016. But, the West Indies club, which is not in the best shape, is unlikely to be able to cling to the trophy this year.
The West Indies will have to go through the first cluster phase this year. Phil Simmons’ club will face Scotland, Zimbabwe and Ireland.
