Long hop

Long hop

Long hop is a type of slow serve in cricket characterized by a fairly short bounce. It would seem that the batsman has time to observe the ball’s direction and determine the option for its reflection. However, it is not.

It is difficult to defend against a fast ball that falls close to the batsman but bounces low. Typically, the batsman expects the ball to be served quickly or with a spin, which is contrary to a long hop. In this regard, the batsman runs the risk of being knocked out.

In addition, there is a concern that such a ball should bounce over the wicket when it is passed, but this is not always true.
