Kane “Kiwi Kane” Williamson is a New Zealand professional cricketer. One of the best batsmen on the planet, combining the duties of captain of the New Zealand national team in all forms of the game, as well as the leadership of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League.
Kane Williamson: career
The athlete was born on August 8, 1990, in Tauranga – a town located in the north of New Zealand. Being an active child, he started playing cricket at an early age. At the age of 16, he decided to become a professional athlete. Williamson has repeatedly expressed gratitude to his first coach Pacey Depina, who managed to motivate the New Zealander and teach all the tricks of the game.
At the age of 17, Kane made his debut for Northern Districts. The newcomer instantly received recognition and high appreciation at home. This allowed him to move to the English Yorkshire, with which the New Zealander became the national champion in 2013.
Since February 2015, Kane has been playing with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The cricketer becomes an IPL champion a year after the transition and signs a multi-year contract with “Orange Army”. He took command in 2018 in SRH, replacing the Australian Dawid Warner. Under “Kiwi Kane” leadership, Sunrisers took second place at the end of the 2018 season.
Williamson has excelled at the international level. His Test debut against India in 2010 was impressive: the New Zealander scored 131 runs and 299 points. This allowed him to become the eighth player in New Zealand history to score a century on debut.
“Kiwi Kane” represented New Zealand at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, 2015 and 2019 and participated in the ICC World Twenty20 2012, 2014 and 2016. He made his debut as a captain in the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 in India.

- On December 31, 2020, he reached the Test batsmen rating of 890, surpassing Steve Smith and Virat Kohli, becoming the best in the world, and as of May 12, 2021, he continues to hold the lead with a rating of 919;
- Nominee for the Garfield Sobers Award (best player of the decade) and Test cricketer of the decade (best game of the decade);
- Four-time winner of the title of New Zealand “Player of the Year”;
- 7-time winner of the title of “Man of Match” in Test, 13-time in ODI, two-time in World Cup;
- Orange Cap winner in the match against Chennai Super Kings in the 2018 season.
As of January 2021, Williamson has scored 24 Test and 13 ODI centuries. The maximum result in Test is 251 and 148 in ODI. He is approaching a century in T20I.

Kane Williamson loves animals, enjoys cooking, playing guitar, surfing, spends a lot of time with her family. He is married and has one child. He does not smoke but sometimes drinks alcohol.
