Donkey drop in cricket

When thrown, the bowler tries to spin the ball or throw it very hard to give the batsman maximum difficulty. For this, the projectile must be in good condition. Sometimes players in this position will have the ball slip out of their hands and fly in a high trajectory, landing under the batsman’s feet. This is called a donkey drop in cricket.

Donkey Drop in Cricket: Method

A donkey drop is an unintentional delivery that loops high into the air before descending steeply onto the pitch, often resembling a slow lob. It usually occurs due to a mishandled grip or loss of control during the release. Though often ineffective and easy to hit, the unexpected flight can occasionally deceive the batsman. Donkey drops are rare in professional cricket and are generally seen as mistakes or signs of inexperience.
