Australia’s White-Ball Squads for England Series Revealed
England’s men’s white-ball cricket team is getting ready for a series in Australia. The hosts have already announced their ODI and T20I squads, but several key names are missing from the line-up: Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins will all sit out the series. Australia’s white-ball squads will have to take on England without the trio.
ACA Names Australia’s White-Ball Squads to Face England
Australia’s home white-ball series against their rivals from the “Old Country” gets under way on November 13, with the first ODI. Eight matches are on the schedule, split across two formats. Australia’s squads for the 50-over and 20-over games are now confirmed, and there are several new names in the mix. Men’s Under-19 talents Mahli Beardman and Oliver Peake will feature in the ODI squad, while a handful of newcomers have been added to the T20I line-up. Australia’s white-ball squads will have to battle England without some of Australian cricket’s biggest stars, who are sitting out the series for strategic reasons.
Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood will instead focus on preparing for the ICC World Test Championship matches in India, which is why they will miss the entire series. Nathan Ellis, meanwhile, is working his way back from a side strain. He has been named for the second leg of the tour and included in the T20I squad. Here is Australia’s full squad list for the upcoming matches against England:

One of the main talking points is the inclusion of young all-rounders Liam Scott and Jack Edwards in the ODI squad, alongside the previously mentioned Mahli Beardman and Oliver Peake. Peake made headlines at this year’s Under-19 World Cup, where he scored a century.

The ODI squad also has plenty of seasoned pros. Cameron Green, Travis Head, Matt Renshaw, Cooper Connolly and Josh Inglis have been named only for the 50-over matches. The 20-over squad, meanwhile, has been bolstered by several newcomers: Joel Davies, Nikhil Chaudhary, Lachlan Shaw and Sam Harper have all been selected. Mitch Owen and Jake Fraser-McGurk are back in the T20I line-up. Mitchell Marsh will captain both sides.
Australia’s White-Ball Squad Will Open the Series Against England in Perth
The series starts with three ODIs, scheduled from November 13 to 18. The second leg follows, with five T20Is taking place between November 21 and December 2. The ACA will be keeping a close eye on how Australia’s refreshed white-ball squads fare against England. Australian selection panel chair George Bailey believes the squads are well balanced and that the upcoming matches will give several players a chance to make their mark:
“We’re really pleased with Liam Scott’s performances over the past year. He keeps learning and continues to improve. It’ll be exciting to see him back in the ODI side, as well as Mahli Beardman, who could develop into a quality all-rounder in the future. Lachlan Shaw and Sam Harper are great fits for T20I cricket. These players have earned the chance to play at international level, and they’ll use it to grow into proper professionals in the game.”
Perth will host the series opener on November 13. The other two ODIs will be played in Adelaide on November 15 and Hobart on November 18. The 20-over series begins at the MCG in Melbourne on November 21, then moves to the Gold Coast on November 24, Brisbane on November 27 and Sydney on November 29. The final match will take place in Canberra on December 2.
