Kapil Dev encouraged to work on preserving the test format
The number of T20 leagues around the world is increasing every year. These projects attract large investments, as the shortest variation of the game pays off quickly. The uncontrolled growth of the influence of T20 has a negative impact on the other two formats of cricket. On the eve, the ex-captain of the India national team, Kapil Dev encouraged to work on preserving the test format.
The expert noted that the money the ICC will receive from the T20 format should be used to maintain TEST. Kapil stated that cricket should not be allowed to follow the same development path as football.
“The ICC is responsible for developing cricket all over the planet. In football, the World Cup takes place once every four years. Does anyone really want cricket to follow the same path? We cannot allow the test format to disappear,” Kapil Dev stated.
Dev expressed a similar position regarding the ODI format. The expert noted that the ICC needs to take complete control of the spread of T20 influence.
