The incident involving Brydon Carse took place on Saturday night outside Molly Malone’s Irish Tavern in Derby. The player was briefly arrested by local police on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly in a public place. However, the arrest did not last long, and Carse was soon released without charge after agreeing to leave the area.
Nevertheless, footage showing the cricketer being detained by police quickly surfaced online. It became yet another unwelcome off-field episode involving an England player. Ben Stokes and Matthew Potts were also briefly visible in the footage of Carse’s detention. However, neither player is currently facing any allegations or disciplinary action in connection with the incident.

Brydon Carse is a powerful and highly capable bowler who delivered an excellent performance in the Ashes series, finishing as England’s leading wicket-taker. However, a subsequent injury forced him to spend time on the sidelines, and the latest controversy is unlikely to strengthen his position in the squad.
The situation is particularly damaging because Carse already served a three-month suspension in 2024 for placing bets on cricket matches between 2017 and 2019.
