Bangladesh defeated West Indies in the second match of the ODI series

The Bangladesh national team has recently pleased its fans with a very high-quality game in one of the formats with a white ball – Bangladesh defeated the West Indies in the second match of the ODI series. Now the third match of the series of confrontations does not matter, because the series has already been won by Bangladesh.

Before the start of the second match of the ODI series, West Indies, which lost the opening battle with a handicap of 6 wickets, was quoted as the obvious favorite in the betting line, but Russell Domingo’s wards managed to surprise the “know-it-all” again, winning with a handicap of 9 wickets.

Bangladesh immediately managed to seize the initiative

It should be noted that the contest turned out to be quite one-sided – Bangladesh immediately managed to seize the initiative, and the players of the West Indies national club looked very tired. In some places, there was a feeling that the West Indies simply did not understand what they needed to do to create at least some difficulties for Bangladesh.

The third and final match of the ODI series between the West Indies and Bangladesh will be held on July 16. The bookmakers, who somewhat underestimated Russell Domingo’s team in the first two meetings of the series, now leave the underdog with a much better chance of successful performance — the West Indies are only a slight favorite in the line.

West Indies looks very bad in ODI format

However, there is every reason to believe that it is within the framework of the third confrontation that Phil Simmons’ wards will still be able to find an approach to their opponent: this duel has no value because the series has already been left for Bangladesh, so Iqbal and the company can afford to relax, but the West Indies are serious. It is unlikely the team wants to lose the series in which the West Indies were initially given the status of the favorite.

It should be noted that the West Indies looks very bad in the ODI format in 2022: Phil Simmons’ team sensationally lost the series with Ireland in January, winning the first match. This was followed by a dry defeat by India (0-3). At the beginning of the summer, however, the West Indies finally managed to please their fans with a cool game with the Netherlands (3-0), but now the club has a series of five defeats in a row in the ODI format: the team lost to Pakistan three times and Bangladesh twice already.

Domingo’s guys should be reckoned with

But Russell Domingo’s squad, on the contrary, has been looking great in this format lately — Bangladesh had already sensationally won the series with Afghanistan and South Africa earlier in 2022. And now Bangladesh has outplayed the West Indies, making it clear to everyone that now Domingo’s guys should be reckoned with.

Tamim Iqbal, the captain of the Bangladesh national club, said that his team is seriously claiming high places in the 2023 ODI World Cup.

“Bangladesh, with its ODI game in 2022, proves that it can compete with any national team in the world. There is still more than a year left before the World Cup in India, and we will become even stronger during this time. I am sure that we can go far,” said Tamim Iqbal.
