Namibia sensationally beat Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka created a sensation a little over a month ago: the club led by Chris Silverwood won the Asian Cup, beating Pakistan in the contest’s final. Therefore, there was no doubt that officially the strongest team in its region would easily make it to the second stage of the T20 World Cup. However, on the eve, Silverwood’s guys failed — Namibia sensationally beat Sri Lanka in the first round of the first phase of the T20 World Cup in Australia.

Before the start of the confrontation, bookmakers and experts practically left modest Namibia with no chance of success. But Sri Lanka could not properly tune in to a low-status opponent. Chris Silverwood’s squad was defeated with a handicap of 55 runs.

The Netherlands was expected to cope with the United Arab Emirates in the parallel game of the group.

Thus, Namibia and the Netherlands now lead the tournament ranking of Group A of the first stage of the T20 World Cup.

Sri Lanka will take on the United Arab Emirates in the next set, while Namibia will take on the Netherlands.
