Mickey Arthur turned down an offer to become the head coach of Pakistan

Right now, the Pakistan Cricket Board is looking for a new coach to replace Saqlain Mushtaq. The leading contender for a fairly high-status position was Mickey Arthur, who had already served as the helmsman of the Pakistan national team a few years earlier. But the PCB could not agree with the specialist: Mickey Arthur turned down an offer to become the head coach of Pakistan.

The South African simply cannot take up the position of Pakistan coach right now, as Mickey has a long-term contract with Derbyshire.

However, the PCB members are not discouraged F— the Board invited Mickey to become a consultant for the Pakistan national team. According to the idea, Arthur will be able to combine this position with work at the Derbyshire club.

“Because of his long-term contract with Derbyshire, Mickey cannot become the head coach of Pakistan right now. But at the moment, we are discussing the option in which Arthur will become a consultant to the PCB,” the official statement of the Pakistan Cricket Board says.
